New Feature Bloody Sunday On the morning of Sunday 21 November 1921, Michael Collin’s intelligence organisation carried out an audacious, but violent, exercise to try to fatally damage the British intelligence service in Dublin that resulted in the death of 15 people. While reprisal attacks on the crowd at a football match in Croke Park remain in the Irish psyche, this work looks at the 8 locations of the 15 morning executions.
While it is difficult to empathise with many of the victims, there are, as Dermot Ferriter says ‘multiple definitions of service, loyalty, suffering and sacrifice’. In this period of remembrance, this project encourages viewers to reflect that the act of remembering should be more than partial. History is not simple and there are many perspectives.
